PAS is what it takes to be successful in a home business when many others fail!

Now you can side step the pitfalls that make most small businesses fail. You can have the professional team you need that will market, prospect, follow up on prospects and then close a deal without having to hire them. This is done by using PAS (Prosperity Automated System).

Some people agonize over when to pick up the phone to follow up on a prospect. You want them to know you are interested but you don’t want to annoy them. At the same time the decision must be made as to whether you should call them or appear in person. Some people appreciate a “go getter” that goes the extra mile to come in person and others think what audacity to show up without an appointment. The worst part is getting the nerve up to follow up on prospects because you are afraid you might get the wrong response.

Marketing your business is crucial. Many don’t have the experience to make the right decisions as to where to advertise, for how long and what to say. A lot of money goes down the drain by making the wrong decisions. After all, marketing isn’t cheap!

Some people would like to go into business for themselves but lack the self determination to get out of bed at a reasonable time every morning. Others are not good at planning their time and find themselves finishing up with one client at the same time they should be meeting with another on the other side of town.

Let’s face it, people are hard to please and sometimes you would rather choke them than smile. The skill you need is diplomacy. All successful business people must have some degree of diplomacy.

These are some of the pitfalls that cause so many to fail after starting their own home business. You can have professionals that can manage all these decisions and situations without having to hire them. This is where the PAS Group comes into the picture. They have a team of professional, experienced people that can handle the situation - so you can profit! This is assured with a 100% money back guarantee. You see the results or you pay no money for this service.

PAS works, but if it shouldn’t work for you, you have lost nothing. The team works for you to make you money so they get claim their fee. This is a new concept to the business world, implemented by Bill Osterhout, a former fortune 500 executive. He has successfully started and maintains a number of internet companies and he recognizes what it is that make so many fail.

Teenage Depression: Is It Just a Phase in Growth?

We all remember when we were teenagers. Boy, what a phase in our lives.
What with the need for peer acceptance, parental expectations, raging hormones, acne… It’s no wonder teenage depression exists in such high numbers.

From research and even mere observation, teenage depression actually manifests itself differently from adult or childhood depression as during this age, teens want to start to mark their territorial signs of independence and the last thing a teen may want to do is admit they need help for depression. Teenagers tend not to display gloom, self-depreciation, or talk about feeling hopeless like adults do during this stage of their lives if they are depressed, so as a parent or adult role-model you may need to watch for other signs of depression in the teenager you are dealing with.

Teenage Depression: Symptoms to watch out for

Though the signs of teenage depression may vary in both sexes, here are some symptoms that are common to both male and female teens battling with depression.

1. Excessive negativity and antisocial behaviors.

2. Wanting to leave home or retreat to their rooms constantly.

3. Inattention to personal appearance.

4. A lack of desire to co-operate in family get-togethers and activities.

Signs of Teenage Depression in Males:

1. Increasing in aggression and agitation.

2. A higher tendency to get in trouble with school or the law.

3. Reckless behavior such as uncontrolled use of illegal substances.

Signs of Teenage Depression in Females:

1. Less attention to their appearance.

2. Pre-occupation with death and themes of suicide.

3. Excessive promiscuity or an extreme isolation from members of their opposite sex.

Although this is not a conclusive list of the signs of teenage depression one should look out for in teens, the ones listed above are the most common ones. In addition to these depression symptoms in regards to teenager, other ones may include a lower self-esteem than average, referrals to suicide (in extreme cases) and a general negative outlook on life.

It indeed may be challenging to cope with as an adult to deal with a depressed teenager as it’s a catch 22 situation, they want to be independent as teens, yet they need your help.
Well, this may be a good time to simply take charge, albeit with care and caution as we are dealing with delicate and sensitive emotions here and reach out to help.

Teenage Depression: Solutions for coping with depression in your teen

1. If necessary, seek professional help. I lean more towards drug-free alternatives so meetings with competent Pastors, guidance counselors, teachers and therapists may suffice to at least get a diagnosis…if you need one.

2. Talk to your teen’s friends and or their parents, although this approach requires care, remember, they are starting to declare independence and ’snooping’ around on them may be defeating the purpose of reaching them, so do this with care and tact.

3. Suggest one-on-one outings with phrases like: “hey, how about a game of basket ball, just you and I..?’ or “Hey how about us girls take a trip to the Mall?”
If they refuse, don’t appear too crushed; simply respond with an understanding “okay maybe some other time…”

4. Ask if there is anything they’d like to discuss and this will be a great time to be more of the listener and less of the talker as soon as they start to open up.

5. Don’t be what you’ve not always been to your teen, in other words being overly
nice or “Bill Cosby-ish” (no pun intended Mr. Cosby) , trust me, they’ll see right through the act and may withdraw even more.

6. Watch for signs of suicide (in extreme cases) and if there is the slightest
indication, double up your efforts to reach your teen. It helps if you’ve been close as parent and child from the beginning.

7. In the hopes things are not as extreme, soon as they manifest signs of reaching out, help, be there. Incorporate such limbs of a natural treatment for depression as exercise, proper diet and positive thoughts and affirmations.

8. Set a good example of being upbeat around your teen as much as possible. This can also be more of preventive measure if any.

9. Prayer. If you are spiritual, pray and it doesn’t hurt and can help immensely to ask your depressed teen to join. “Where two or more are gathered in My name, there will I be.” Keep that promise from Above in mind-it works.

Teenage depression may wear a different mask from all other types, but it is essentially the same and with the proper steps taken can be overcome. Do not panic, however, be strong and there for your teen and in applying the steps above with other suggestions or creative ideas you deem right as an adult dealing with a depressed teen, you will be able to steer him or her back to a positive outlook on life.

An Overlooked Plan for Bush, Kerry, Democrats, Republicans, and Healthcare Costs

In an effort to assist our political leadership it would be wise to have a simple solution to a life threatening problem. The much talked about Medicare Medication benefits are going to waste if the medications are not taken properly. Since this month of October is “Talk About Prescriptions” we should recognize some basic facts. There are multiple steps available that will benefit all consumers of healthcare. (Aside from obvious unmet steps for physical activity such as of walking).

After doing some research the industry acknowledges,(in the Merck manual) that a significant percentage of admissions to healthcare facilities (Hospital and Nursing Homes) are due to the fact that seniors are not taking their medications properly. Perhaps there is easy solution for long distance family members. If one has the time to give a friendly reminder call and await their completion of their medications, checking of blood sugar, blood pressure, or other health regimen would be extremely helpful. The industry estimates from the heart disease management alone ‘medication compliance’ could save an estimated $100 billion each year if the medications were taken properly.

More info about this month is at http://ncpie.latticegroup.com/index.jsp. A sponsor behind this site National Council on Patient Information and Education (NCPIE), is one of the original patient safety coalitions.

There are numerous types of systems that utilize various compliance techniques with elders. The range involves passive systems and active systems or combination of the two types. The price ranges depending on how extensive or intrusive of a system one desires. There are medication charts, pill boxes, timers, alarm watches, pagers, telephone calls, personal visits, 24 hour surveillance systems that you can use to keep a constant eye on your loved one.

There also needs to be a complimentary understanding of alternative medicine and mainstream medicine. For this to be accomplished a dialogue must include all supplementation to normal food ingestion including herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other supplements suggested by anyone including prescription drugs. There is a chart available at http://ncpie.latticegroup.com/index.jsp. For those who are too busy to meet the demands of such a personal long distance care there is a ‘Personal Voice’ that can help you. Wine, Wine, Wine

What in the world is up!

Was there a full moon or something? As I went through this past week I was struck by what seemed to be the theme for the week. I came to the conclusion that there are some career whiners out there. I mean people whine about any and everything. Let me just float this out there… Whining is not going to fix a problem!

Now God only knows I surely have my challenges, and do in fact do my fair share of moaning and complaining (like now) but the difference is for me it’s a temporary state. It’s not where I spend my time. There are those who can’t seem to put together a complete sentence without having a problem with something.

If you’re one of these people stop it already. If you’re not but you find yourself in the presence of one who is, don’t walk away, runaway from them. It’s contagious and detrimental to your state of mind and attitude. Which equates to what you can do and accomplish. If a whiner starts walking toward you don’t hesitate, get away as fast as you can or they’ll suck the life right out of you. Really.

The next time you hear an identified habitual whiner whining let them get what they’re wanting to say out and then gently but firmly ask them this— “So what are you doing about it today so that this problem doesn’t exist for you tomorrow?” then walk away. Leave them with their whining thoughts.

Look kids, I’m not saying that there aren’t some legitimate concerns that shouldn’t be expressed, but my goodness! Must they be expressed over and over and over, every single day. All day? Direct that energy into solving whatever the problem is. Just a thought.

That’s all. That’s it. I’m done whining about you whiners. Bring on the week.

OOPS… I left out the ‘H’ there at the beginning didn’t I?
Ah well… You’re not gonna um… whine about it are you?

Live some. Love some. Learn some. Everyday.

Felicity (DVD) Review

Nominated for 2 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes, including Best TV Series - Drama, Felicity gathered a large cult following in its short four season stint. Premiering on the WB network in September 1998, the show (along with Dawson’s Creek) helped ignite a firestorm of highly successful original series on behalf of the upstart network, with such hit shows as Angel (1999), Gilmore Girls (2000), and Smallville (2001). The brainchild of writer J.J. Abrams (creator of the two hit series Alias and Lost), Felicity follows the life of a recent high school graduate, not through seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4, but through Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. Similar in genre to its contemporary, Dawson’s Creek, Felicity’s cast is of approximately the same age, but the setting is college instead of high school…

Felicity begins when the star of the series, Felicity Porter (Keri Russell), graduates from high school. Having harbored a four-year crush on classmate Ben Covington (Scott Speedman), despite the fact they’ve never talked, Felicity musters the courage in the aftermath of their commencement ceremony to ask him to sign her yearbook. When Ben writes some surprising comments, Felicity decides to follow him to fictional University of New York (UNY) instead of pursuing her goal of pre-med at Stanford. Against her parent’s wishes, she enrolls in the school and moves cross country where she becomes roommates with Meghan Rotundi (Amanda Foreman), a girl whose lifestyle clashes with her own, and where she meets resident advisor Noel Crane (Scott Foley) who immediately develops a crush on her. When Ben learns of the true reason for Felicity’s enrollment, he’s both flattered and a little uncertain about Felicity’s mental stability. In the ensuing four years, Felicity goes through the basic trials and travails of a maturing college student, experiencing the ups and downs of life, love, and adulthood…

The Felicity DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the season premiere in which Felicity makes the big move to UNY. While there, she meets her new roommate and the resident advisor Noel Crane. She also makes quick friends with aspiring musician Julie. After telling Ben of her true motivations for attending UNY, he’s apprehensive about starting a relationship, and Felicity announces that she’d just like to be friends. However, she gets jealous when she finds Ben and Julie together. Meanwhile, Felicity takes advantage of her job with the college and reads Ben’s entrance essay, an inspirational piece about his dead brother. But she later learns that Ben has no brother at all… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Thanksgiving” in which Felicity cancels her plans to return home for Thanksgiving in order to stay with Julie so that she will not be alone, and “Assassins” in which Noel and Felicity break off their relationship after each learns of the other’s unforgivable actions…

How To Attract Buyers Using The Right Sales Terminology

It is always important that you use the right terms when marketing your product to potential buyers. The right terminology may mean increased enquiries for your product and possibly more sales.

Failure to use these terms may leave potential customers undecided or going to the competition to satisfy their needs. Your competitors may be making more sales by using these terms intelligently while you are still stuck with dry unattractive terms in your promotional materials.

In using these attractive terms care must be taken not to overuse them or to display mere rhetoric with no matching action to back them. You ought to choose which terms to use and when the right mix of terms may be used together. Circumstances may also not allow you to use certain terms at certain times and sound discretion must be applied in their usage.

Apart from advertising copy and sales promotion materials the terms may be suitably used whenever talking to potential customers. You ought to speak with confidence and emphasis if they are to believe your claims regarding your products.

Here is a listing and brief descriptions of these terms:

FREE: Perhaps the first and foremost of these terms. You ought to give the customer something free to persuade him to buy your product and not those of your competition. It could be free advice, a free report or another product of lesser value. But the free offer must be tied to the buying of the product otherwise you may not make substantial sales.

MONEY: Mention money and everybody’s attention is caught. It could be “great Value for money” or a donation to a worthy cause or a sweepstake tied to the buying of the product. Find out a way of factoring the issue of money in your sales material if you want to make more sales.

NEW: If the product is new or if there are new facts or ingredients in the product then say so. It will create interest from potential buyers. Everyone loves new things and people are willing to abandon old unattractive products for new better ones. Some do it just to break the monotony.

SAVINGS/REDUCED PRICES/PRICES SLASHED/DISCOUNT: Customers want goods at lower prices and use the money saved for other needs. If you can demonstrate that the prices have been reduced whether by giving a discount or by selling at a lower price then you are likely to attract prospective customers.

QUALITY: You ought to tell your customers that your products are of a high quality to win their confidence. Mentioning a quality standard you have attained or showing a quality mark from a national or international standards body such as the International Standards Organisation (ISO) may easily demonstrate this

BUY NOW!: Don’t forget to mention this term at the end of your ad. Put it in a conspicuous place in a bold, big font size somewhere in your ad and it may work like magic. This term helps to inform the doubting prospect to take action now and not later.

LIMITED TIME OFFER: If you are giving away free goods with your product or are giving an irresistible offer it is best to make it for a short but reasonable time. This will cause whoever is interested in what you are offering to expedite his buying decision so that he does not miss it. This is where the use of this term comes in. The use of this term should be used after taking into consideration the type of offer you are giving whether it is attractive enough to prospective customers and the quantity of products in stock whether they will be sold in sufficient quantities within the time offer period.

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE: By giving your customers a 30 days money back guarantee and no questions asked if they are not satisfied with the product if they return it in a saleable condition, you are demonstrating a measure of credibility and reliability of the product. Do not fail to give this guarantee. You will definitely win over the doubting customer by giving him the guarantee.

TESTIMONIALS: Provide brief statements from satisfied customers who liked your product and include their names and location. This shows that your product is genuine and has been tried and tested to some customers’ satisfaction.

BENEFITS/GAIN: Explain to the customer the benefits he is going to get by using the product. We use products because of the utility we expect to derive from them and an explanation on what will be obtained from their use is important.

ADVANTAGES: Even if you do not mention this term, please explain the superiority of your products over you rivals’ products. What features are more outstanding? Is the quality much higher? Are the ingredients more and is the price lower?

ONLY: By specifying the uniqueness of your product you are very much likely to entice prospective customers to buy your products. This uniqueness may best be expressed by using the term “only” appropriately. This shows customers you have an edge over competitors, materials and products to delight their customers and stay ahead of the competition.

Please note that the use of these terms on their own will not make high sales without the presence of a valuable product and the right mix of factors such as a strong distribution network, attractive packaging and a strong brand name, an effective and efficient friendly customer service among a host of other factors.

The whole business must be geared towards providing better customer service and care and continually improve its marketing materials.

Mere usage of terms without ensuring that your products meet the highest safety standards and customer expectations will not do much to improve sales. The company must develop ways of measuring and meeting customer expectations if it is to gain and maintain a high market share.

Dining With The Romans

Numerius was a slave and ate one meal a day consisting of gruel
made with cracked wheat. While Spurius a plebian purchased his
meals from street vendors, food shops and taverns located near
large public buildings and bathhouses. Marius a patrician and a
member of the Roman senate had the means and the influence to
enjoy his meals that were cooked and served by slaves in one of
two spacious dining areas within his home. Quintus a freedman lived in the country where he grew vegetables and raised some
livestock for an absentee owner. He and his family ate fresh produce, mashed beans, bacon and cheese that were cooked with
fresh herbs, olive oil and salt.

Breakfast was not much of a meal and it consisted of a cracked
wheat porridge or bread dipped in wine that was mixed with honey
and water. Depending upon one’s status, dates or olives were included.

Cracked Wheat Porridge

1-cup Bulgar wheat, crushed
2-cups water
4-Tlbs. olive oil
1-tsp. salt

Directions: In a skillet, heat the olive oil and stir in the Bulgar wheat until it is well coated with the olive oil. Remove
from heat and add the water and the salt. Drizzle some honey
in the porridge for added sweetness. Serve with some fresh figs,
dates or dried apricots.

Lunch was the midmeal of the day. For the majority of the Roman
citizens, it was either purchased from the street vendors or food shops and taken home to enjoy. Plebians and freedmen
ate bread, fruit, cheese or leftovers from last nights supper.
Marius like the other patricians ate his lunch at home or purchased his food from the street vendors. Dinner was served
late in the afternoon and it was the main meal of the day.
The plebians and the freedmen ate their dinners at the taverns.
The food was plentiful and the ingredients were fresh. Wine was
diluted with honey and some water and served at every meal.

Grilled Sardines with Garum
8-whole sardines, grilled
4-cups grape juice
2-Tlbs. anchovy paste
1/4-tsp. oregano

Directions: Cook the grape juice until it is reduced down ot one-tenth of its volume. Mix in the anchovy paste and the oregano to the reduced down liquid. Grill the sardines and pour a portion of
the garum sauce over them. Serve with some flat bread, ripe cheese and olives.

After a long day at the forum, Marius a Roman senator arrived at
his spacious home where he was greeted by slaves. He joined his
family and guests in the dining area where appetizers were being
served from a bronzed donkey. Everyone took individual portions of hot sausages, dishes of olives, crabs, figs, bacon and tomatoes eating them with their hands. For the entree, a whole pig was cooked and swordsmen cut indivdual pieces for the diners.
After the main meal, dessert was served in another dining area where the wine flowed like water. All types of fruit was offered by the slaves. Poppy seeds mixed with honey as well as sweet cakes mixed with honey, nuts and chopped fruits were a special treat.

Pork Roast With Prunes, Apricots and Figs
3 or 4 lb lean pork roast, with a slit cut into the side of it
1/2-cup dry prunes, apricots and figs, chopped
1-Tlb cooking oil
1/4-tsp salt
1/4-cup honey
1/2-cup water

Directions: Have the butcher cut a slit or a pocket into the side
of the pork roast. In a sauce pan add the dried fruit, the honey and the water. Simmer the dried fruit until tender. Stuff the cooked fruit into the slit of the pork roast and tie it with a
string. Rub the salt on both sides of the pork roast. In a skillet, heat the cooking oil and sear both sides of the pork roast Transfer it to a crock pot cooking for four hours on high and then turn it down to low four more hours. Test the done
pork roast with a meat fork to make sure it is cooked through.
The beverage of choice was Mulsum. Warm one-half cup of honey and add it to a bottle of Maderia dry white wine. Serve it chilled.

As soon as the sun went down, Quintus a freedman walked from the
fields to his home where his wife and daughters were preparing fresh vegetables and a whole chicken stuffed with fresh herbs.
Their gardens produced fresh vegetables and they raised chickens
and pigs. Quintus had a small vineyard where he grew the grapes for his own wine. Tonight, they were making his favorite soup of
broad beans that were mashed and seasoned with herbs, bacon
and small chunks of cheese.

Broad Bean Soup

Stress - Can Visualization Help

I am under stress right now. Please don’t bother me. I am facing real bad stress at my work place. Please tell me what can be done? Our relationship is under great stress. Can we not try anything to reduce it? My kids put me under so much stress. I feel helpless. And so on. Stress is one of the most commonly used words. Let us try to understand how to fight it. And this article is timely as April is Stress awareness month.

How is Stress defined? Pressure, strain, anxiety, worry etc. All those negative states that make living difficult are commonly termed as stress. Any time, when the locus of control goes beyond our capacity, we feel stressed. As far as we are in control, we are able to cope it, and as soon as we begin losing control, we experience stress.

The worst part of stress is the common methods used to fight it. Smoking and alcohol are common stress busters. Even overeating for some of us is a stress buster. All these put more pressure on our mind and body and lead to diseases.

What are the easy ways to beat stress? Would getting away from the stressful situation for some time help? Yes it can, and if we add an exercise of imagination where we imagine of someone else facing stress and visualizing his/her responses, that can give us many insights to our situation. Try this. Imagine that someone else is facing the situation of yours. Observe that person carefully. Read the mind of that person. Note the physical signs. Observe how she/he is reacting. Keep yourself totally uninvolved, though it is yourself you are thinking about. This exercise may give you some key insights to your reaction to stress. Now imagine of this person responding to the stressed person relaxingly. Watch the stress dissolving. Note how the person has suddenly begun looking in control. Do this few times when ever you face stress that may be overwhelming you. Visualization helps many of us. If you also get some help with such an exercise, you will beat stress in the initial stage itself and keep your control with yourself.

A very good method of reducing stress is listening to peaceful music and reading motivational text messages. You can do that sitting right in front of your desktop with good screensavers and wallpapers of motivation, living, daily thoughts, success thoughts etc.

Stress takes away control from us. When we get the control back, stress disappears. Control may be got back only by fighting the stress causing situation and finding solutions. That can be done only if we are confident and relaxed. Visualization helps us achieving that state. This is a simple exercise. Try it. Never take stress lightly. As soon as you find that stress is causing you more damage than you can cope up with, take professional help.

Sometimes Leaders Need to Get the Boot

Today I stood up to a guy right in front of his boss. I challenged him, the former leader, to change his position and give up his position of power. He had fallen from that position though no fault of his own, yet, he didn’t deserve the power that he desired.

Yep! I challenged a 5 year old today, right in front of his dad. Here’s what happened:

Jason, this little boy who I challenged is at school first nearly every day. He takes his rightful position of line leader. This means that he is the first boy in his class to enter the school after the kids walk in a straight line in from the parking lot; where they say The Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Today, as in the last few days, my son Jeremy and I thought that he was going to be first but right before he got there, another boy landed the coveted position. Today, it was another boy, Cory. Every day, my son Jeremy takes the second spot and doesn’t grumble.

Today, the first kid was Cory, and Jeremy was second. When Jason arrived, he plopped his backpack on the line right in front of Cory. I started chatting with his dad and his son got comfortable. That’s when I had a decision to make. Did I challenge the kid in front of his dad? Was it fair that he gets used to being the leader every single day even though he didn’t deserve it today? I decided YES.. I was willing to challenge his position.

So I said to this ‘future leader of America’, “you know Jason, you’re going to have to get behind Jeremy today because you weren’t here first today”. I turned to his dad and said, “Yah, you know how important the line leader is in kindergarten!” I then said to Jason, “Jeremy wants to be the line leader every day, and you beat him every day and so you get to be it! Today it’s Cory’s turn since HE was first”. At the very suggestion that he wasn’t going to be in the first position, Jason tried to enroll his father at taking his position. He told him he WANTED to be the line leader… PLEEEAASE!!” His dad made him move and Cory moved back into first. Jason wasn’t happy, but he obliged.

Okay, so maybe I stuck my nose in a place where it didn’t belong. Maybe I’m pushing competitiveness among the kids. But, perhaps it’s what gets my son MOVING in the morning. It’s the GOAL that he wants to achieve. He WANTS to be line leader. He WANTS to get dressed because he might get to lead the line into the school that morning. So for us, it’s worth it to get rewarded for a job well done. It’s my way of teaching Jeremy goal setting and how good it feels to accomplish what he achieved.

I liked it also how the parent accepted my challenge. He was fine with my correction and he supported me. Of course I was nice about it, but I keep hearing how parents aren’t doing what is right by their kids. So many of them don’t WANT to interfere and so they don’t. Could it be that they just don’t want to take responsibility? As parents, we should be willing to be involved. After all, we are their role models.

Yes, I stuck my neck out for the kids. I didn’t let the usual leader return to his position when he didn’t deserve it. And I know that tomorrow, Jeremy WILL be the line leader, even if we have to get up 1/ 2 hour early!

How about in your life? Is there anyone in your company that doesn’t deserve to be where they are? Are they still in a position that they shouldn’t be? Have you been patient long enough?

Have you considered that it might be time to demote that person and to ask them to take a step backwards? Is there someone you need to encourage to go into counseling? Is there anyone whose drinking habits are running interference with their work? Do you think it may be time to realize that they are doing more harm than good to your company?

Managing people takes care, concern and a lot of planning. It takes dedication to knowing the strengths of the people you manage and knowing what they can handle and what they can not.

And when you approach the leader who isn’t pulling his weight or needs a bit of encouraging to get with the program, make sure you are direct, sympathetic, and of course respectful.

Because who knows, YOU may be the next one who will be challenged to wake up and get going.
