Caffeine Withdrawal Symptoms

Have you ever felt a caffeine withdrawal symptom? If you drink coffee, coca-cola, or any number of energy drinks on a daily basis you probably have. Drinking large amounts of caffeine routinely gets your body hooked on the stuff. That’s right, caffeine is addictive. Just imagine being deprived of your favorite caffeinated beverage for an extended period of time. The effects on your body would not be pleasant.

The potential for a caffeine withdrawal symptom to cause major physical distress is supported by the inclusion of caffeine withdrawal as an official diagnosis by the World Health Association. Most research on withdrawal has been performed on adults but there is new evidence that shows children experience withdrawal symptoms during extended periods of time with no caffeine. The Common Caffeine Withdrawal Symptom List:

• Headache

• Fatigue

• Sleepiness/drowsiness

• Difficulty concentrating

• Irritability

• Depression

• Anxiety

When a caffeine withdrawal symptom occurs, the severity can vary from mild to extreme. At the very worst, caffeine withdrawal can produce severe depression to even total incapacitation. But those are in extreme cases. The most common caffeine withdrawal symptom is a headache.

To avoid going through a caffeine withdrawal symptom, you need to drink caffeine in moderation. Remember, too much of one thing is never good. If you keep caffeine consumption in moderation, your body won’t go through any caffeine withdrawal symptoms.
