5 Channels for Targeted Traffic

In online business world, majority of people would say that advertising is the life blood for website traffic, and for reaching the market. Whether you are selling a product, or providing a service, you got to somehow advertise to get the desired traffic to your business website.

However, not all traffic to your site is equal in the measure of producing the business result. Yes, there are tones of options that would somehow help to drive lots of traffic, but it would not bring you the desired result simply because those are not targeted potential visitors that would produce result or become your real paying customers.

Forgo all those hype about paid to surf, free traffic programs, the bottom line is you need real and targeted traffic to your site. For me, these are some low cost channels that I zoom into in helping to generate the much needed yet targeted traffic. These channels had helps me in bringing the desired visitors I need without me having to crack my head and start chasing after them.

1. Website Positioning
Ask yourself truthfully, “What’s your site all about?”
Are you providing information? Or more towards providing search? Or simply just pages with yet more links?

You need to clearly position your website. If you are not even sure about its direction, how would visitors ever be sure of what to expect from it? Clearly define what your site is all about:-

• If you are going to provide information, then make your website’s description to be clear.

• If you are going to provide search and further information, also clearly let visitors know about it.

• If you are going to sell something useful to visitors, let them be aware of it. Don’t try to bait them. You’ll be losing them anyway if you try to mislead visitors.

2. Share your experiences.
Well, you don’t have to put up your resume on your site. And also, nobody is going to be expert in everything. Rather, concentrate on your own niche area that you are very much familiar with.

You could just share your experience and encounter along these years when trying to achieve something, or make it some kind of daily online. You could very well start a blog of your own!

In today context, blogs are very popular tool. Search engines love them so much because of new contents are added frequently. Your own blog could be an ideal place to share with visitors of what and how you are doing so far.

If you yet to explore this option, the great part about blog are that it could point links back to your own website! When search engine spider stops by blog, it would crawl and index its latest content. And guess what, it will also be stopping by your website from the link there, and you could start receiving highly targeted traffic heading towards your site.

3. Forums Posting.
While you are surfing internet every time, try to search for established forum groups out there. Filter out those forums with topics that you are not familiar with, and concentrate into those that you are well familiar with. Pay some visits to those forum groups. Start to interact with the visitors in there.

Notice that many of these forums will allow you to post your signature tag along with every of your post. For this, do add some brief information about your own site; activate it with live link pointing back to your own site. Check out the “V B Code” if you need help as to how to post signature. Not forgetting, you need to check the forum rules whether they allow signature or not.

4. Start your own forum.
If you are familiar with forum script and could spend considerable time online, you could also start your own forum. Provide a place where your own visitors can interact with you and also among each other. In fact, there are lots of such free services and tools available out there for this. You can use these tools to either host a forum, or install the script onto your website host server and host it there.

5. Produce Your Own Content.
To some, producing own work or content is just as killing task. Not to be fooled by this, producing you own work is not really that extreme hard. Recall the time when you were back in school writing some essay or thesis? Yes, it’s the same. Writing articles is not that killing hard.

For webmaster like us, producing own work via writing articles is truly a great channel of getting new fresh traffic to our website. Also, there are lots of article publishing network out there with different topics. Share your articles there, publish it there, and get your articles to be distributed out further via the network.

Like myself, what I do basically is write up an article and add “Resource Box” or “About the Author” that provide live links pointing back to my network of sites. Yes, it is just like adding your signature when posting in forum. After which, let the ezine publishers and visitors or readers know that you do allow them to re-print and re-publish your article. Be it on their website or blogs, or even on their own newsletter.

Write your article and publish it frequently, there are so many content publishers who go to the article and ezine directories to grab new fresh content to be re-publish in their newsletter. You will notice that there are simply too websites and ezine on almost any topic. Same principle, concentrate on your area of expertise, and you will be receiving new traffic source coming from these channels.

Examining the above 5 channels, whether you are just having a simple Online Business or well designed and built Internet Empire, you could drive more traffic to your own website. And best of all, these 5 low cost channels will be bringing targeted traffic too.

Good Traffic is Targeted Traffic

Targeted traffic: the demographic

Assuming your business is motorcycles, my first guess at your target demographic would be 16-25 year old males and 50+ year old wealthy retired couples. Breaking it down further, if you sell Suzuki crotch rockets, you can safely discard the wealthy retired group. Narrow the demographic as best you can to target potential customers. Paying for traffic that isn’t dense with people interested in what you’re selling is a waste of your advertising dollar.

Once the demographic is well defined, you can begin identifying and sorting out perspective advertisers. Determining whether a particular advertiser or marketing group is going to work for you can be rather difficult, unless you’ve personally used them before. This is where experience and networking with other webmasters comes in very handy. Talk to other webmasters who’ve advertised with the company, find out what they were advertising, and ask them how the campaign went and if they plan to advertise on that website again. I don’t generally use an advertiser unless I’ve heard very good things from other webmasters or they have a trial ad setup, where you can commit a small amount of money to testing out the traffic before you make a real investment and buy several weeks or months of advertising with them.

An important consideration when buying ad space on a specific website is the focus of that website. If you’re considering advertising on a service oriented website, make sure your product or service compliments that website’s service. For instance, if you sell shoes, advertising on hotmail.com is going to be very inefficient and expensive. You’ll be paying to advertise to a bunch of people, the mass majority of which aren’t looking to buy shoes. However, if you’re selling a spyware removal tool, email services could be a great place to advertise. Most internet users have spyware on their computers, and most are aware of and concerned about spyware.

Advertising on content based sites

When I need to advertise, my favorite place to go is still a content oriented site with a close relationship to my product or service. If I’m selling Gregory backpacks, I’ll look for advertising opportunities on websites related to backpacking and hiking, such as outdoors guides and wilderness survival websites.

Web traffic at some content based sites is not particularly targeted, while others have a specific topic, like a gardening tips website. Finding a website with a very specific interest may or may not be as important, depending on what product you’re selling, or what service you offer. T-shirts may sell well on lots of different content based sites, while the gardening weasel isn’t likely to do well on places not related to gardening.

An update schedule of content based websites you’re considering advertising on is rather important, depending on how you advertise. A website that updates every other day or weekly will have many visitors who come for the updates and leave. A website that updates sporadically will have more people who come just looking for something new. When there is nothing new they’re more likely to look for other related links, which is where good advertising kicks into high gear. Of the three major advertising types, I tend to believe in doing my homework and paying flat rates for given periods of time. This seems to work best, because it depends more on you to build an intriguing advertisement, and rewards you for doing so.

Buying ad space on a per click basis can be a better bet if you’re trying to build a brand name, because your ad might get 50,000 impressions before the 1,000 click-through you paid for happen.

Conversion rates are key

For most of us on the web though, our main goal is to sell the product or service. This is why I contest doing your research, finding the best websites, and purchasing ad space on a weekly or monthly basis is the best method of promotion in the long run. If you’re smart, you’ll monitor your traffic from different sources and determine the cost per sale to see which sources are providing the best conversion rates. In the case of buying click through traffic, the monitoring program should give you the traffic conversion rate.

More targeted traffic suggestions

Additional information can be found in the subscribers area of www.webmasterarchives.com, specifically information on what to look for when considering traffic trades with other websites, where to get started with traffic building, good approaches when requesting a link trade, how to jump start your traffic building efforts with very minimal cost, and methods to making your website so attractive webmasters will be knocking down your door with link trade requests.

Your Business versus Mother Nature

Business Consultants earn hundreds of thousands of dollars every year showing businesses how to improve their productivity. All business consultants in the Information Technology area agree that the biggest threat to business survival is data loss.

There are many different data backup solutions available on the Internet today. Unlike years past there are not only different providers but also many different methods of data backup. Some solutions are “on-site” based methods. These include tape drives or other magnetic storage media, DVD-R and CD-R based methods and NAS (network attached storage) methods of creating local (within the LAN) backups of critical data. These methods of data backup are definitely better than nothing, and can provide protection against user error, data corruption, and in some cases even computer theft (that is if the data backup equipment itself isn’t also stolen) and many of the other pitfalls associated with digital media.

But what about protection against the most powerful of all forces, Mother Nature?

Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, and other natural disasters are a serious potential threat to the crucial data you have stored within your computer network. Add into the equation the collateral damage of flooding and fire that often comes along with Mother Nature’s wrath and you have a recipe for some serious data loss in the unfortunate event that one of these uncommon, but critically devastating, events occur. In most cases your existing backup solution would be useless and would suffer the same peril as your original data.

The answer is simple: Have a complete, up-to-date copy of your data stored at a different location. You should back up your data using an offsite data backup service. Offsite data backups allow you to store mission critical digital files in a secure, remote location. When you store data in an offsite location you are doubling the protection of your most import data files and enabling a level of security that even the best on-premises data backup solutions can’t provide.

Your data is encrypted and backed up over your existing internet connection to a secure server. You can set it up to perform backups at any frequency you wish. You can even set up the system to schedule backups while the office is empty on weekends and evenings, or when the computers are idle for a certain period of time (great for those systems that need to be accessed 24/7 and cannot afford the potential downtime that may be incurred due to backup procedures being run at the time).

Mother Nature is a concern for the integrity of your critical data. All smart businesses understand this.

Your DATA is your LIFE. Protect it!

Is Texas Holdem Legal in California?

California has a long and twisted history with the game of Texas Holdem that may be confusing to the beginner player. Despite the state’s proximity to Texas, it seems that Texas Holdem didn’t make its way across the border until the early 1980s. At this time in history, California had legal gambling saloon where individuals could play traditional varieties of poker, for example seven card stud or three card draw. However, the California legislature immediately banned Texas Hold’em along with a version of poker called stud horse.

In 1988, some concerned citizens petitioned for Texas Hold’em to be considered legally distinct from stud horse. After the court battle of Tibbetts v. Van De Kamp, 271 Cal. Rptr. 792 , the state of California officially ruled that stud horse and Texas Hold’em were different versions of poker.

The current legality of Texas Hold’em in California is further complicated by the presence of casino on Native American reservations. Reservations are considered a legal entity separate from the jurisdiction of the state of California, so the state’s rules about gambling do not apply to the casinos on tribal land. The more prominent Native American casinos feature Texas Holdem as one of their more popular table games. The popularity of Texas Hold’em is fueled mainly by mainstream media representations of the game as cool, hip, and glamorous. While Texas Hold’em is popular at the places where it can be played in California, it is not necessarily legal to play Texas Hold’em outside of designated areas.

Exercise - It’s Something You’ve Got to Do

We all know that exercise is good for us, but who wants to bother doing it? I am one of the biggest procrastinators when it comes to actually getting up, popping in a video, and doing my daily thirty minute exercise. Sure, I’ll feel great after exercising and be thrilled with myself for doing it, but it’s just beginning it each and every day. It becomes something that you have to do, like brushing your teeth, or taking a shower.

I’ve tried talking myself into believing it’s just thirty minutes a day and then it’s over, but that thirty minutes feels like eternity sometimes.

So why do people make excuses to not exercise, even after all the talk about how great it is for them both mentally and physically?

Not enough energy. This is one of the most common excuses that I hear. It’s hard to get up and jump around doing complex aerobic moves or run around the block, when you feel like you are going to keel over from exhaustion. It has been said that exercise will increase your energy levels as time goes on, even though in the beginning you will feel tired.

Not enough time. This is one of most used excuses for everything a person doesn’t want to do. The truth is this: If they spent less time sitting in front of the television, just missing one sitcom, then they could find the needed time to work out. Isn’t your health more important than a television show?

No motivation. It is really easy to tell yourself that exercise will not be worth it. Sure, you see pictures of skinny models and body builders, but you tell yourself that there’s no way that could be you. You want to look good, but you have already caused self-defeat by comparing yourself to others. You must identify realistic goals for yourself, such as dropping one dress size. Then when you reach this goal, buy yourself something nice so you can show off your new body.

Not seeing results from exercising. Results from exercising are not always apparent at first glance. You may start to feel increased energy levels or maybe your thinking is clearer. Maybe you only have five or ten pounds to lose. This can be the hardest when you are so close, if often takes longer to lose these pounds. Measure yourself on how your clothes fit, not what the scales say.

No gym close to my home. If there is not a gym or workout center close to your home, then go to the park and walk around. Run around the block. Pop a DVD in and do aerobics in your home. There are so many alternatives to having to have a gym membership to exercise.

Once you stop making excuses to exercise, you will find that it comes easier with time to do, and you might even like doing it. I can’t say that I am at the liking stage yet, but I know it is what is good for me, so here I go to fulfil my thirty minute daily task.

What Do People Really Want for Christmas?

Before buying random gifts and hoping that they will be pleasing to the recipient, read this article and learn how to avoid aimless gift buying. Learn how to buy something they want, or better yet, get them a gift card and spend the rest of the day enjoying time together.

Each year Holiday spending gets more and more excessive. Everyone says that Christmas will be different next year but it will be the same boring holiday. It’s fun to receive gifts, especially when you’re a kid, but as adults, do we really need to go bonkers in the mall each year?

The problem is that most people don’t know what everyone wants. The theory espoused is apparently that if you buy a lot of things, eventually you will hit on something that pleases the receipient. It it best to do research before you put the time and effort into going all out for someone. You need to get opinions from people who are sure of what they are looking for. Asking very specific questions throughout the year will aid you in finding the perfect gift. This information should help you resist buying them unneeded trinkets and gadgets. When these ideas fail, there is nothing wrong with gift cards. You can personalize these with a few home-baked cookies or ornaments, or with a personalized card that lets them know that you wanted them to have the last say about their gift. Spending time with friends and family is more rewarding than any presents could ever be.

Though many people agree that gift cards are impersonal, isn’t it more impersonal to buy someone a gift they don’t need or want? Gift ideas are hard to come up with but gift cards are a great back up when questioning and snooping about fail. Musch of the time people won’t admit to what they want even if they know. There are lots of ways to give pleasure to this group. Here is a great site for some gifts ideas for everyone.

Personal Fitness-You Do Have Time

Who has the time to exercise after putting in a full day of work, managing your children’s extracurricular activities, homework, bath and other daily routines, walking the dog, cooking a [healthy?] dinner for the family and so on ad nauseam? Well, you do - make it so!

Yes, I KNOW you’re busy, stressed out and already spread way too thin time-wise. However, exercise is essential for your health and should be considered a mandatory part of your weekly if not daily routine. Sadly, personal fitness is usually the first thing busy moms sacrifice when they are over burdened and under pressure. Ironically, it is exercise that will actually help you deal more effectively with the physical and psychological demands of a hectic life.

Even a few 10-minute sessions a day can lead to increased stamina as well as a long list of benefits to the mind, body and spirit. Here are some ways exercise can stimulate the energy level of you harried Modern Moms out there:

• Let go of the guilt and schedule your exercise time - Simply put, don’t ignore your personal needs. Exercise is one of the best ways to not only enhance your energy but preserve your sanity. If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t have energy or patience for anyone else.

• Exercise first thing in the morning to jump start your day - Your chances of sticking to your program increase significantly if you exercise in the morning compared to later in the day when excuses and fatigue take over. Your metabolism will be elevated for more than 7 hours following a one hour morning workout, so you will have more stamina to take you through the day.

• Add activity to your work day - To renew your vigor in the day to day grind, find a better way to commute to work, like walking, biking, parking a mile from the office or getting off a train stop early. You’ll still be high on natural endorphins while everyone else is working on their second cup of coffee. Eliminating some of the modern conveniences can burn up to an additional 800 calories a week.

• Make wholesome and nutritious food choices - You are more likely to eat healthier meals if you exercise. The last thing you will want to do is eat a heavy meal after getting the blood pumping through your veins. Ultimately, eating more nutritious food along with regular exercise will lead to weight loss, which will decrease the demands on your body and increase your energy and self -esteem drastically.

• Drink Plenty of water - Keep hydrated before, during and after exercise. Your body is made up primarily of water, and while water does not have calories to provide energy, it contributes to weight loss and assists your digestive system. Drinking ample amounts of water will keep the toxins flowing right out of your body.

• Find creative ways to integrate family time with exercise - Your entire family will be healthier and more energized as a result of physical activity. Don’t be a bystander at the playground. Get up and join in the activities by pushing a jogging stroller, hitting the hiking trails, running the bases, biking around the neighborhood, climbing the jungle gym or swimming in the lake. As an added perk, your kids will think you’re cool.

• Get your zzz’s - Regular exercise will lead to more quality sleep and require you to sleep less. If you exercise early in the day, you will be naturally tired by bedtime and will have no problem falling into a deep slumber.

• Try Yoga - Raise your energy levels and ability to concentrate with the deep breathing techniques used in yoga. Yoga builds balance, coordination, strength, and it is energizing and wonderfully de-stressing as well. Perfect for decompressing after an ultra hectic day!

• Exercise will help to fortify you against colds and flu - People who participate in a regular exercise program are less likely to come down with a cold or be debilitated by one. Exercisers report less symptoms and quicker recoveries from colds.

Vertical Jump & Speed Training Pitfalls

In this article I will teach you what to look for in a Vertical Jump program & what potentially leap robbing mistakes avoid.

There are without a doubt quite a plethora of various Plyometrics & “Jump Higher” systems available on the internet as well as numerous sites offering “FREE” plyo guidelines, or mini-programs, Jump bands, jumpsoles, gadgets & exercise demos. The options are endless, so with so much to choose from, how is an athlete to know which is the best for them. I am constantly asked what I think of “Air Alert 2″, “Jumping Advantage” or “Mad Hops” or some other trendy gimmick to hit the scene. Of coarse, this is what I do… I research them, pick them apart, & so on. As you can imagine being in the field I’m in I have pretty much reviewed every E-book, manual & devise on the market. If I hadn’t, how could I honestly be offering a good & competitive product? Having said that here’s some pointer & my advise on what to look for.

O.K. for starters it almost goes without saying that you get what you pay for. Many sites give some basic examples of getting started on a plyo workout or basic VJ program. They are just that..BASIC. Other than a good idea of how a drill might be done or what the history of plyometrics are don’t expect much. Why? Most of these hop, skip, & bounds you are seeing are really the low end of the “plyo pool” which aren’t completely in effect but well like I said before don’t expect much!

Now for all the Mass-Media Downloads & Johnny-come-latelies you’ve run into. Here’s 2 words for you: PROPAGANDA & HYPE! Yes these guys are professional salesmen or pay big bucks to have professionals write a killer ad to get you drooling over an otherwise very average product. Now I’m not bashing or hating these sites, there trying to make an honest buck & so am I. Most of the programs do work but here’s some flaws I have found:

1) The same 3rd grade borderline plyos I mentioned earlier that I used to do when I was 8.(They didn’t do much good then but for $40 they will now?) Here’s one I love to get asked. “How many weeks is your program?” My answer? Until you reach your personal goal. You can’t just make a pre-designated time limit (like 12wks or 16wks or 3 months) on a program. What happens when you reach the end of it & you still can’t dunk? Do it again they say! Or instead you do what you should have in the 1st place…By Bionic Jumping Power!

2) Exhaustive reps & sets. It’s far better to do ten good, focused, powerful reps of a drill & be done than to hammer away mindlessly at 5 sets of 100 jump ropes or “rim touches”. It’s been proven that over 75% of the benefits of any kind of workout session come in the very first set.

3) Overtraining. This is a big problem I run into. DO NOT WORKOUT EVERY DAY, PERIOD! If you want to rob your body of all the muscle building testosterone it produces, then well O.K. You need to give your nervous system about 48 hrs to recover from the shock you gave it.

4) Squat overkill, One size fits all programs, mixing strength training day workouts with speed/plyo days & poor plyometric training guidelines are 3 more pitfalls to avoid. You can’t just give everyone the same workout. Everyone’s body type & needs are different. Do you know how high of a box to start doing depth jumps from? How about when you should raise the height of your depth jump box? I do! And guess what its different for each person reading this.

So now lets get you (the soon-to-be slam-dunker!) on the right track. We need to take a whole body & lifestyle look at the situation. No single exercise is going to really do anything. Get a big picture. Start with your goal. How fast do you want to run a 40 yard dash? How high do you want to jump? 36″, 40″, or more? It can be done! Now start looking at body composition, muscle fiber type, & progress you’ve maybe already made & why. You need to know whether you still need to gain more of muscle strength base (And what’s the fastest way to do that!) because you can’t produce more power than you can absorb. Or do you need more speed/elastic strength & some better ways do that.

Lastly start catering your workouts to your personality. If you get bored of a particular exercise quit doing it for a few weeks. Get the boom box out & play some music that pumps you up & keeps you going at. Add some variables that make them more exciting like depth jumps to a dunk on a lowered rim. Make a target just slightly above your current vertical to reach at to keep you going. Incorporate other skills you need to develop into a session like dribbling between sets or while doing a more simple jump exercise. and finally make your work outs short. No more than 30 minutes. I hope this piece helps you on your quest to greatness & higher skies!

Computer security is essential to prevent PC performance loss and identity theft. Spyware clogs system resources, taking up disk space and slowing down the PC. Some may also be capable of stealing personal information. Fake sites to gather information are also plentiful and many emails try to fool the reader into visiting one of these sites to enter credit card numbers or logins to other legitimate sites.

TrendMicro PC-Cillin Internet Security suite is the perfect companion for the home and small office computer, providing a range of benefits in a single, affordable package to protect against these dangers:

• comprehensive antivirus protection: automatically updated to provide constant, efficient protection of emails, browsing and removable media.

• 30 day trial: download and assess PC-Cillin before purchasing

For any questionable files which arise and are not confirmed by PC-Cillin as an Internet parasite, they can be submitted to Trend Micro’s EDoctor Lab for analysis and a response can be expected within 48 hours. This system ensures if there is a malicious file which has not gotten into the database yet, it surely will do soon once it has been discovered on the loose. Public input into research is invaluable in keeping security applications up to date.

TrendMicro PC-Cillin Internet Security is available as a single license home package, or in multiple license packages for the small office. It is fully customizable to provide relevant protection for different machines, or even different environments, for example, on a laptop which travels between work, office and on the road.
