Compatible Inks Can Create Tremendous Savings

It s never a good time to run out of printer ink especially with the very high prices makers are charging. The makers of printers are selling their machines for close to cost price. Manufacturers would find it hard to make a profit from printer sales due to the reduced prices in the market. It is still however feasible to find cheap ink .A great way to save is to purchase the discounted printers and then look elsewhere for the ink cartridges. Of course the majority of printer cartridges have lower priced copies available that are created by other companies.

It often appears that printer manufacturers do what they can to end the compatible inks market. The majority of producers include electronic chips on their ink products to calculate the amount of printer ink that is being used. It is usual for printers to refuse to print if the cartridge within does not contain a chip. Formulating these chips can present great difficulties for the makers of compatible inks. These extra barriers do make it more difficult for firms to create compatibles. There are however a number of companies that do succeed. If the inks for your printer have chips, make sure that you purchase compatible cartridges that will work with your machines chip reader.

Printer makers have often sought legal remedy against compatibles manufacturers. Static Control Components (SCC), a North Carolina based business fought against a case brought by Lexmark. Lexmark controls its own Toner Loading Program where they refill consumers ink cartridges. Lexmark brand printers incorporate a technology that makes the printer stop when it discovers that the cartridge was not refilled by Lexmark. The case revolved around an alleged DMCA violation by the compatible maker. The court struggle lasted seven years with the result that the Lexmark toner loading program was pronounced not to be copyright-able, opening the gates for compatibles manufacturers. After seven years of legal wrangling and appeals, Lexmark lost the case.

As ink has become more pricey need for compatible inks has developed. The numbers of compatible ink makes has also increased. Some low priced copy cartridges have very poor quality ink in comparison to the makers branded ink. It s often a good idea to ask on forums to find advice on what ink to choose. With the price differences it is astonishing how many customers have not changed to compatible ink. Cartridge prices vary greatly.

There are compatible inks available for lots of makes including Brother, Konica and Tally. These compatible inks are made by a variety of companies including Armor.
